Senator says Federation Council tests local OS Aurora smartphones

MOSCOW, Nov 24 (PRIME) -- The Russian parliament’s upper house Federation Council has started testing smartphones on national operating system (OS) Aurora, Senator Artyom Sheikin told PRIME on Friday.

“I am testing smartphones of local development by company Aquarius on Russian OS Aurora of models NS M11 and M12 in a protected case. These devices have a crucial competitive advantage in the modern digital world in comparison to the most famous phones by foreign companies which is a secure system of data sharing and storage,” Sheikin said.

Phones of other companies are also tested, the senator said, adding that the number of applications that can be installed on the gadgets “is not enough for a full transition to national OS Aurora.”

The device can tackle basic daily tasks, he added.
